Something has to go wrong...

Obviously something always has to go wrong when major things have been going on! So far with only one day until closing (eek! doing my happy dance!) we have only had a little snag in the closing process but it was fixed and here we are still closing on time. Well Casey and I have been trying to gather supplies for the home renovation projects we want to start on Wednesday so last Friday we made a trip to Home Depot (about a 90 minute drive) to pick up the tiling supplies we needed. We had a very helpful flooring associate who helped us get everything we needed and realized they didn't have as much tile as we needed. Ok, not a huge deal since we are tiling 2 rooms and one is pretty darn big. They could order more and we could just come back and get it. Fast forward to Monday. We knew our tile was coming in so we borrowed my sister's truck so we could pick the tile and some cement board up and bring it home. We get to Home Depot and walk in at the pickup area and kind of smile because there's a pallet with cementboard and a pallet of tile sitting there waiting for us! Ahhh service! Casey was going to deal with getting everything loaded and I was sent on a scavenger hunt to gather more supplies. I found everything I needed and headed back to meet him and I knew something was wrong. They had loaded the cement board but the pallet of tile was still just sitting there. Turns out the wrong tile had been shipped to the store and it wasn't our tile!! Ahhh! We drove all the way over here for nothing (ok not absolutely nothing because we did get other things but it's the principal of the thing)

Fast forward, Home Depot did rectify themself, they shipped it to our home for free so we did not have to make anymore trips! Yay! We finally received the correct tile!

Todays Wishlist!

Well since we are moving from a little house to one that is big and has lots of rooms to fill, I've been slowly collecting ideas of things that I would like to have eventually someday and I figured I would share them with you!

Bar Stools!!

We have a breakfast bar that I'm super excited about and I think these stools would look amazing!

I want some kind of cabinet for extra storage in our dressing area and this one has totally caught my eye. I would like to put baskets on the upper shelves and tuck away some towels in the lower portion.

An over the range microwave! This will probably be one of the first purchases because the current hood vent doesn't work and this gives me a perfect excuse to get a microwave one and get that darn thing off of my counter!

One week to go!

Well closing is so close I can almost taste it! We officially close on the 31st at 11 am! Hurray! It definitely cannot come soon enough. Especially since Casey and I both have Wednesday, Thursday & Friday off of work plus Labor day weekend! Hello 6 days (well 5 1/2 once we close) of action on the new house! Which is why I'm trying to finalize some decisions! While our wood floors will be arriving on Friday we still need to get all the other odds and ends we need to work on the house! Like paint! Which brings me to my dilemma. I cannot decide on a paint color for the master bedroom. Right now we have blue walls with kind of a navy colored comforter set but I'm not sure if I want to take this time to change the color scheme. We both enjoy the blue but I'm not sure what direction to take it. I've discovered that I do rather enjoy the brown/blue color combination but with that I'm not sure what color to paint the walls.

I enjoy the color scheme of this bedding and Casey didn't disagree

I also enjoy the colors of this, but Casey thinks the geometrics are a little much

But I still need to make a decision on wall colors for the bedroom, sometime before next weekend because that's when the room needs to get painted and I really don't know what to do! Eek!

New Wood Floors!

I am so unbelievably excited! We have been looking everywhere for the 'perfect' wood floors. (We want engineered hardwood floors to be exact) and we thought we have found the ones we wanted from Home Depot, but of course there was a catch. They were only available online, and they did not qualify for free shipping. Plus we didn't really want to shell out the $700 they did want for shipping, that is just insane! Well yesterday I was on their site looking for something and there they were, our perfect hand scraped gunstock oak 4 3/4" wide board that qualified for free shipping! Needless to say we very quickly ordered them! So if nothing else gets done in the house we will at least have new wood floors in the living room, dining room, and hallway. The end of the month cannot come fast enough! Check out how pretty they are!

The Beginning of an Adventure....

It's the beginning of an adventure! We are suppose to be closing on our new house on August 31st, this blog will give me a chance to keep track of things I would like to do, things I want and things I have done! Hopefully I will be able to be a faithful poster!
